Pay to Pal :(

So Paypal decided because of the adult nature of my game to suspend my account.   I'm currently drafting an email for some clarifications on their policies, but I have heard plenty of horror stories related to paypal's customer support and I'm not holding out much hope.  *Sigh*

I'm not sure if they are going to refund all donations and harvest any difference from my bank account or not, but it's a bit irritating and scary, and I regret opening an account with them.

EDIT: Ok I reread the notice a few times and I'm pretty sure they aren't going to do anything that asinine.  Still, I'm up for suggestions of alternate donation takers.

  1. Wow, I just lost all faith in Paypal, that is complete bullshit.

  2. I stopped using paypal quite a while ago when some drama concerning a joint ebay account resulted in my bank account being drained of all its money. I'm surprised that people still go "Paypal is good! You don't know anything." when stories like this are commonplace.

  3. That's pretty freaky. It's worrying that a money transaction service is exerting that sort of influence.

  4. You could out try Alertpay for donations. It worked pretty well for cinemajuggs and they require over a thousand to stay open every year.

  5. I am angered and confused by this! My donation was simply that, a donation. I was not paying for anything, and for all the world knows, it was entirely unrelated to "The adult nature" of your game o.o

    Effing jerks.

  6. What does it matter that the game is of "Adult Nature"? It's not like weather or not they service your site has any impact on your content getting out to minors or anything, and them being jackasses certainly isn't going to shut you down or anything. So, what exactly do they plan to prove by doing this? I guess I'll forever fail to comprehend the logic (or rather illogic) of corporate bureaucracy.

    I say just fuck em'

  7. Hmm. Hope you didn't have any money in the account when they froze it. Not sure about them reversing charges, but I know that typically when Paypal freezes an account for TOS-violations they seize whatever money is still present in it (if I recall correctly, Furaffinity was out several thousand dollars because of that).

  8. Paypal can suck a long hard one. No wait, they'd like it too much. Yeah, we've had a lot of problems with them too, for example they froze my account because my brother fucked his up. *Hugs* Hopefully they'll return your money, Fen. Love the project. As I said on FA, if you ever need help don't hesitate to ask :3

  9. Wow...Well, that's just all kinds of shitty. If it gets refunded, let us know how we can RE-DONATE the money to you.

  14. The reason Paypal are such jerks is that they know there really aren't any alternatives. There are AmazonPayments and WePay, but neither accept payments made from outside the US (as far as I remember).

  15. Just remember you're not actually taking a "donation" any income made from the game you HAVE to declare on taxes. Legally you have to declare it as a business income (legally you're a sole proprietorship)

That aside, you can send money easily online through alertpay

  16. How is he making money from the game? He's not selling anything, the game is free and he's not demanding payments for completion of the game. Everyone who gave is only giving to show their support of Fenoxo and his game, not as a transaction for services rendered. So, how exactly is that "income" and not a donation?
